Data protection in MARIProject and Project Tools

The following notes provide a simple overview of what happens to personal data when you use MARIProject.

As part of the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union in 2018, MARIProject was expanded to include corresponding functions. With this, MARIProject supports companies in meeting requirements of the GDPR. It should be noted that personal data is stored in both MARIProject and SAP Business One.

Functions for data protection in MARIProject / Project Tools

The following functions are integrated into the apps to enable the provider to ensure data protection in the MARIProject and Project Tools apps:

  • Wizard for setting holding periods for personal data
  • Wizard for the activation of data change logs in MARIProject for employee master data
  • New representation of all changes to the employee master
  • Separation of private address / office address in the employee master
  • Wizard and PDF report for the representation of stored personal data for employees, contact persons (SBO), individual business partners (SBO) and event participants
  • Wizard for the erasure and anonymisation of personal data in MARIProject. For contact persons and individual business partners, the wizard has to be launched also in SBO
  • MARIProject provides a two-factor authentication for the Web Client, the Mobile Client and the main program

Responsibility of the provider of MARIProject / Project Tools

As provider of MARIProject, MARINGO does not have insight how our customers use the solution. Our folder in MARIProject allows to save all types of documents related to projects, contracts and employees. Those documents are stored in the database. From a user’s point of view, the access to the data is controlled by authorisations for every tab of the folder. We cannot assess who may gain direct access to the database by bypassing our application.

Rights for certain users

MARIProject / Project Tools adheres to applicable data protection laws in the European Economic Area, which, if applicable to you, include the following rights:

  • Where processing of personal data is based on your consent, you have a right to withdraw consent at any time for future processing
  • You have a right to request access to, rectification, or erasure of your personal data, or to transfer or receive a copy of your personal data in a usable format
  • You have a right to object to the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances
  • You have a right to lodge a complaint with an applicable data protection authority

You must contact your company if you have questions or seek to exercise any of these rights.

Security and retention of personal data

MARIProject / Project Tools uses appropriate standard security technology and organisational measures to protect personal data from unauthorised disclosure and will retain personal data in active databases for varying lengths of time depending upon the specific MARIProject / Project Tools Services, type of data, and applicable law and instructions of the data controller.
